Rocio E. López Félix, M.D.

Dr. Rocio E. Lopez is a licensed Primary Care Medical Doctor. She is mexican and emigrated to Puerto Rico after she got married with Dr. Rivera. Along with her husband she founded Med Wellness Clinic in 2005, bringing her unique approach to healthcare to the families of Caguas and its surrounding communities until 2020 when the practice was relocated in Cayey. She is currently working towards Certification in the field of Functional Medicine.
Blending the knowledge acquired in conventional medicine training with Health and Nutrition Counseling, Neural Therapy, Orthomolecular Medicine and Integrative Medicine has come to create a successful methodology to support her patients.
Her methodology combines functional and integrative medicine through a systems oriented approach. She believes in taking the time necessary to get to know her patients and involving them in their treatment plans.
According to Dr. Rocio, “being meticulous and proactive in learning a patient’s medical history—including the interactions among genetic, environmental, and lifestyle factors is crucial to developing an effective strategy towards the ultimate goal of long term health”. She considers patient education and patient involvement to be equally important. In her experience, “when a patient truly understands the reasons they are not feeling well, and they understand how to improve their condition(s), they feel empowered and tend to act with determination. This is a critical component towards long term success on the path to optimal health”.
The comprehensive treatment plans implemented by Dr. Rocio distinguish her from most conventional doctors. Dr. Rocio incorporates the latest in Modern Medicine, Functional Medicine as well as Natural and Alternative treatments and methods that have been found to contribute significantly to overall health and well-being. She explains that “just because a treatment may not have been created in a billion dollar pharmaceutical lab, does not mean that we should overlook its benefits and not take advantage of them”. According to her experience, in many cases, something as simple as altering a patient’s diet, adding a nutritional supplement, or improving sleep habits can make a whole world of difference.
Dr. Rocio believes that “unfortunately many patients are over-medicated and unaware of alternative treatments. In numerous cases, the solution to a health problem cannot, and will not be found at the bottom of a prescription bottle”. She regards being a doctor as a sacred trust and responsibility and therefore, holds herself to the highest standards of ethics and professional excellence.
In addition to her medical training, being aware that external body image is a reflection of general health and wellbeing she decided to go ahead and do training as aesthetician and aesthetic medicine to complement internal wellbeing with external health.
Outside of work, Dr. Rocio is a wife and devoted mother of four (two boys and two girls). She spends as much time as possible with her children and husband and treasures every minute of it. She is homeschooling the two younger children. She loves to create art and crafts with the family, work in the home garden and she also is always looking to give back to the community through her personal involvement and support of local charitable organizations and catholic church.
